Father and Son Reading a Book

Healthy Readers

A true culture of literacy begins at birth

Every family receives a copy of Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown or Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Bill Martin at a newborn's first well-child visit to Finger Lakes Medical Associates. This collaboration between Geneva Reads and FLMA's pediatrics group is also funded by Geneva Rotary Club and supported by Geneva 2020. In late 2014, we began providing books at each child's 6-month and 12-month visits.

Our goal is to acquire grant funding to provide a developmentally appropriate book at each of 10 well-child visits between birth and age 4, as well as expand our program to serve Finger Lakes Community Health's families.

We're confident that these gifts will be the start of a lifelong love of books and reading and provide the advantage that all children need to succeed in school!
